After completing an internship year at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village in NYC, Dr. Moreno completed a residency in emergency medicine at UCLA. For his senior project, he created a laser tattoo removal clinic under the request of Father Greg Boyle, CEO of Homeboy Industries. For five years, Dr. Moreno removed tattoos off of gang-impacted youth for thousands of patients and was featured in local media as well as Fortune magazine. After his residency, he earned his board certification as a specialist in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. As an attending emergency physician at UCLA, Antelope Valley Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Moreno worked and trained residents in emergency medicine. During this time, he developed the country’s first commercial medical scribe program, Scribe America, to help physicians improve their efficiency with clinical documentation, which became challenging for the nation’s physicians as the electronic medical record began replacing paper documentation. Having a presence in every state with over 500 contracts and 5,000 employees nationwide, his company rose to one of the 500 fastest-growing companies featured in Forbes magazine for several years. After a successful exit with private capital, he focused on growing his family over the next ten years, settling in Las Vegas, Nevada.
